Northern Territory holidays in this tool
May Day and Picnic Day are Territory-wide weekdays and are skipped. National weekday holidays and any listed Boxing Day substitute are skipped as well.
Show days for Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine, Darwin and Borroloola are regional. They stay in the working-day count unless you include local observances. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are evening part-day holidays and stay working days unless you choose otherwise.
The working-day span includes both ends when those dates are working days. Adding business days starts after the from date. Results cannot leave 2026-01-01 to2027-12-31.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a NT business day on this page?
A Northern Territory business day is a weekday that is not a statewide NT public holiday in the official 2026 and 2027 lists. Weekends are never counted. Regional or limited observances stay in the total unless you include them.
Where do the NT holiday dates come from?
They are the same official dates shown on the NT public holidays pages. This calculator does not keep a second copy of those lists. The government source is Northern Territory.
Can I enter dates outside 2026 and 2027?
This calculator only covers dates in years that have official public holiday data on this site (currently 2026 and 2027). Dates outside that window are rejected because weekend-only maths would miss gazetted holidays.
Is Picnic Day treated as a working day in the Northern Territory?
No. Picnic Day is a Territory-wide public holiday in the official list, so that Monday is excluded from NT working-day counts and from add-or-subtract results.
Do Darwin or Alice Springs show days change the default count?
Not unless you include regional observances. Each show day applies to a named locality. Statewide NT holidays still apply with the default settings.
Is the NT result legal or employment advice?
No. The figure is general information for planning. It is not an interpretation of an award, not a Fair Work decision, and not financial product advice. ASIC’s general-information standard applies: confirm the gazette and your own workplace rules before you rely on a date.
